About

Founded in 1858, the Tallmadge Historical Society is Ohio’s oldest continuous historical society.

In 1858 a group of residents of then Tallmadge Township met and realizing 51 years had past since George Boosinger (our first resident)  moved to the area, and reconizing the need to remember those who had came here and their contributions to the area, established the Tallmadge Historical Society.  Since that date the Society has met at least once every year and has kept records of those meeting.  Since establishing in 1858 and meeting at least once yearly, the Tallmadge Historical Society has become the oldest continuous society in Ohio.

The Tallmadge Historical Society today is made up of volunteers dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the memories and artifacts of the people, places and things that make Tallmadge, Ohio, home.
